Matthew Matt James was born in North Carolina on December 5 1991. James is the child of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. His mother was caucasian while his father was Nigerian. After graduating from Sanderson High School, in 2010, he attended Wake Forest University and obtained the Bachelor's degree in Economics. James' fame kick-started after he appeared on screen for his first appearance as a reality star during The Bachelorette. James was chosen in 2020 as the new bachelor for The Bachelor season 25, making him the first African American male star. The season premiered later that year. James is the perfect fit to play the role because he's tall, handsome and humorous. The series ended when he chose Rachael Krkconnell as his choice to begin an intimate relationship with her. Following year, 2021, he got a partner with the well-known dancer Arnold to compete in the season 30 of Dancing with the Stars. James and Arnold were 12th in the competition.
